Fashion show RE:IMAGINED — The Future of Kenyan Fashion
📅 12 November 2026 at 19:00
📍 The Alchemist, Parklands Rd, Nairobi
15 emerging designers. 15 collections. 90 original looks. One night celebrating a new generation of Kenyan fashion.
On 12 November 2026, The Alchemist Nairobi becomes a stage for the next generation of Kenyan designers.
RE:IMAGINED presents 15 original collections created by students of Kenyatta University in collaboration with Estonian Academy of Arts and African Collective Textile. Each designer has developed a six-look collection, transforming textile production remnants and second-hand materials into contemporary fashion.
The result is a diverse portrait of young Kenyan design today: imaginative, sophisticated and unapologetically individual.
Drawing inspiration from Kenyan traditions, nature, patterns, fantasy and contemporary international fashion, the designers were given the freedom to develop their own creative worlds. Some collections are expressive and theatrical; others are functional, refined and distinctly global. Together, they reveal a generation of designers ready to define fashion on their own terms.
At the heart of the project is transformation. Materials that already exist become the starting point for something new. Through creativity, craftsmanship and upcycling, discarded and pre-existing textiles are given new relevance, value and identity.
RE:IMAGINED is a glimpse into the future of Kenyan fashion — young, creative, conscious and connected to the world.
Join us for an evening of fashion, creativity and new perspectives at The Alchemist Nairobi.
The collections were developed at the Kenyatta University Circular Design Hub, established in collaboration with the Estonian Academy of Arts (EKA) Circular Design and Materials Research Group (DiMa), Kenyatta University, Africa Collect Textiles, and SEI Tallinn, with support from the Estonian Centre for International Development (ESTDEV). The Hub provides a space for students to explore circular design in practice, experimenting with how second-hand clothing and textile waste can be transformed into new products and collections.
