Journey towards the Circular Economy: Implementing the UPMADE digital solution for the textile circularity
The research project "Journey towards the Circular Economy: Implementing the UPMADE digital solution for the textile circularity" focuses on industrial textile waste, with a commitment to resource upcycling.
The project aims to introduce circular design, reduce textile waste and foster transparency in the textile industry, whilst enhancing research and business collaboration towards circularity at Estonian, European and global levels.
The project enables the adaptation of the UPMADE upcycling system to the EU digital passport standards. Over 15 years of research have proven that it is an effective tool for reducing industrial waste.
The project develops a digital solution for the UPMADE system and training for UPMADE auditors.
Adapting the UPMADE system, developing the digital solution and training auditors will enable the system to be taken to a new level, create a network of responsible factories and brands and prevent massive amounts of textile waste.
The project is funded by the Estonian Research Council under the Thematic Research and Development Programs (TemTA), with support from the European Union Cohesion and Internal Security Policy Funds.
Project duration: 1.02.2024 - 31.12.2028
